Reclaimed Hardwood Flooring
Welcome to the wonderful, and green, world of reclaimed hardwood floors. We have made it our mission at Meticulous Wood Flooring Inc. to be environmentally conscious about the footprint we are leaving behind which is why we have introduced our ETERNAL SERIES, a completely environmentally friendly brand from start to finish.
We start by locating gymnasiums or other commercial hardwood floors that for one reason or another need to be removed. After carefully removing the product and saving every last board we transport the material to our facility in Headingley. We separate the subfloor from the hardwood and remove every metal fastener. The subfloor materials and metal fasteners are reprocessed and recycled into new usable materials. From there we carefully inspect each hardwood plank for quality control, re-bundle and ship to the purchaser.
Once the flooring has acclimated we show this flooring it’s second installation. Upon completion of the installation, all the old coatings (and usually game lines) are sanded off and the floor is leveled using aggressive grit sandpaper. After several successive finer grits we are left with a perfectly flat and smooth floor. All sanding dust is then reprocessed and recycled into usable materials.
The final step in our reclaimed process is the use of environmentally friendly water-based commercial sealers and coatings to give the floor a beautiful luster and a very durable topcoat. After the coatings have cured you are left with a beautiful, gleaming hardwood floor. It just takes one look at one of these floors and you will find it very hard to believe that the alternative to this, was a giant pile in the landfill…
