Maintenance

Although, hardwood flooring is hypoallergenic and one of the easiest surfaces to maintain it will require a little tender loving care from time to time.

Step 1

Using the proper cleaner. Stay away from cleaners that contain oils and waxes or any that use harsh chemicals. These ingredients can compromise the integrity of the finish on your hardwood floor and could prevent you from having your floors recoated. Our Swedish cleaning formula is a very mild solution that leaves no residue. NEVER WAX A HARDWOOD FLOOR. Waxing has become a thing of the past. Modern floor finishes are virtually maintenance free a do not require waxing to improve luster.

Step 2

Screen and Recoat. It’s been about 3 years since you’ve had your floor installed or refinished and it's starting to show signs of wear. It’s nothing serious, but you miss the shine and are embarrassed by the scratches that seem to be multiplying. At Meticulous Wood Flooring Inc. we recommend recoating your floor once every 3-5 years depending on wear. It's a very simple and cost effective method to restore the original glow of your hardwood floors. We gently abrade the floor and apply a generous coat of gymnasium grade waterbourne floor finish. The result is a rejuvenated floor with a strong topcoat ready for another 3-5 years of abuse.
